Kellie Sharpe
City of St Augustine
Tour Guide License #10142
My name is Kellie Sharpe.
I live in a little town near Monticello, GA, when I am not in St. Augustine poking around in all its lovely nooks and crannies while soaking up the essences. When in St. Augustine I'm continually seeking out the next bit of precious truthful information to add to my already bursting collection of research on St Augustine. I also enjoy replacing the looks of feigned interest with wonder on the faces of my family and friends when I drag them along on my visits to my favorite city.

I am one of several officially licensed St. Augustine tour guides who do not reside full-time in the nation's Oldest City. Even though it doesn't sound like it, I do have another life: I am in my thirtyteens, and I work in the publishing industry in a small graphics company called "Word Workers, Etc." I am an animal person with an extensive collection of birds, dogs and horses. I drive a green Jeep named Kermit who knows the way by heart as we barrel toward St. Augustine every chance we get. Along the way, Kermit and I often stop at some of our favorite haunts along I-95 and the Georgia Coast. There is marvelous history and wonderful people, places and things along the coast and I love to meander south and stop anywhere that looks interesting.

My husband and our partner, Marv Walker, have a small horse breeding and horse training/problem-solving farm. We breed Holsteiner and Morgan horses, and occasionally offer a horse or two for sale.

Me and my
Philippine Red-Vented Cockatoo, Caroline

I am passionate about parrots. I used to raise baby handfed parrots for pets. I stopped doing that when I realized how many pet parrots get dumped or trashed every year when their owners no longer wish to take care of them. Now I devote all my avicultural experience and knowledge to the endangered Philippine Red-Vented Cockatoo. Click here to read about Andre, my first PRV, and how One Small Bird changed PRV aviculture in the US, and made a difference in the Philippines, too.

I love dogs. I am absolutely crazy about dogs. I have four Australian Shepherds, two poodles, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, a "rescue hound," and a Pembroke Welsh Corgi who thinks she is a website designer.

I love my friends. Friends are the best gift you can get. My favorite author, Rita Mae Brown, once wrote, "Whenever I doubt the existence of the Almighty, I remember that through my friends, God has loved me." Isn't that the truth!

When I am not in St Augustine or visiting my home in Monticello, GA, I am in South Haven, Michigan. Along the way to visit my adopted family there, I stop in a couple of small towns in Indiana to visit the best friends in the world. Nothing soothes the soul like knowing you are loved by whoever happens to be on the other side of the door you are about to walk through.

Thank you for visiting and bookmark this page for an expanded site that will include as much St Augustine info as I can find to put into it!
