Kellie Sharpe ~ St Augustine, FL and Monticello, GA ~ Email Me!

St Augustine is one of our country's best-kept secrets.

Many people stumble across it by accident; some find it because they have heard of it or know someone who has been there.
And the city's Tourism Board reaches a number of potential visitors each year.

A large number of people have been to St Augustine because of me. Some went because I made the city sound so fascinating; some just to shut me up. Some have asked me to go along and show them around. I'm always up for that!
I love showing people "my" St Augustine.

My St Augustine is a free-fall back in time. It is filled with unexpected surprises, wonderful discoveries and a new appreciation for the past through efforts made to preserve it in the present. Follow me through St Augustine and you will see things you might have missed. You never know when a new delight will reveal itself - even something as simple as doves nesting in a flowerpot might pop up during a closer inspection of something already unusual and beautiful.

If you are planning a trip to our nation's oldest continually occupied European settlement, and would like some pointers on where to dine, where to stay, or what to do and see, email me. I'll be happy to give you some ideas.

The city is brimming with things to see and do, but a visit to St Augustine is much more enjoyable and memorable if you have a plan before you get there and understand what you are seeing and experiencing. St Augustine is filled with the oldest this and the oldest that, but sometimes if you know to dig a little deeper, you find new and exciting significance to St Augustine's mysteries. For instance, look at this photo of a coquina wall. It looks like a wall, doesn't it? And it is a wall. But look a little more closely... can you see that it was once the front of a house?

St Augustine is a Spanish town. It has been a Spanish town for hundreds of years. Even though Florida has been a state since 1845, its Spanish influence remains. Throughout the city, this Spanish influence colors the streets, the buildings, the homes and the people. And often, this Spanish influence surfaces when you know to peel the top layer away to find what lies beneath.

Spain isn't the only culture to influence this ancient place. England, Greece, Italy, France and the island of Minorca also touched this city and left their marks. St Augustine is a city born of determination, and of spirit. A city that figured out a way around obstacles and through crises. Evidence of its endless trials and tribulations lie in every block, in every street, at every corner.

My St Augustine tells its story in the tracks left by those who walked its streets hundreds of years ago. My St Augustine tells stories of struggle, of survival, of fortitude. My St Augustine lies waiting for anyone who wishes to discover it.

I am always interested in helping visitors to St Augustine plan their trips in order to get as much from their time there as possible. Email me for ideas on where to dine, what to see, where to stay and what to do while you are in St Augustine. Even if you only plan to stay
one day, I can help you get the most from the time you have to spend there.
